Holidays at the Museum

For most people the arrival of the Yuletide season and of the lights and carols of Christmas is a very fascinating holiday for them. They get to spend their time with the people who are most important to them. However, there are also those people who, as much as they are having the Christmas spirit, just do not have people to share the holidays with.

But there is certainly good news for those who just have no idea where to celebrate the holidays. You see, the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum is actually inviting everybody for a big event. The event is to actually celebrate the arrival of the new year, 2007. Come the last day of this year, 31st of December, there would be a celebration and an event which the museum dubbed as “A Classic New Year’s Eve”. No, the museum is not going to give away some of their cars or even some of the Custom Ford truck parts at the very least. It is perhaps a way of saying thank you to all those auto lovers and to all of the public who has wholeheartedly supported the auto museum through the year.

What would be part of the celebration? Well there would be music for dancing from the Big Band which is sponsored by ITT Conglomerates. Of course, there would be food, party favors, and a chance to meet and greet other car lovers (and even lonely souls who had nowhere to go on New Year’s eve).

But, yes, you do have to shell out some cash to be part of this whole event. There are several packages available. One would be the dinner and dance package which would cost you $60. With this one, you get to join those others with the same package have dinner at 7:30 p.m. at the museum’s Willennar Hall. You would be able to enjoy dancing, dinner, the cash bar, and a champagne toast come midnight.

However, if you would like to get more out of the auto museum, you may also want to purchase the Auburn Inn overnight package which is for $129.99 but this would be good for two people already.

Help answer the question about holiday auto

How do you clean auto grease out of a wool rug?
I made a big mistake and tried to fix the car's starter on the dining room table. (OK, stop laughing guys, you've done it too!) But I got black grease on my wife's beautiful woolen white rug. How do I get it out? (Yes, it has smeared.) Yes, we are about to have twenty people visiting from out of state over the holidays. How do I get the grease out of the rug? (No, I did not fix the starter. I took it to a rebuild shop. Yes, the car does start.) Now the grease problem . . .

    Take away the sensation inside
Bitter sweet migraine in my head
Its like a throbbing tooth ache of the mind
I can't take this feeling anymore

Drain the pressure from the swelling,
    The sensations overwhelming,
Give me a long kiss goodnight and everything will be alright
Tell me that I won't feel a thing
    So give me Novacaine

  2. You need to crack open your APA Manual. I'm pretty sure nobody has this answer memorized, unless they cited one for their own thesis. I personally did not.

  3. I didn't realize the Mutter even had such a celebration. It sounds great, but sorry, I'll be at Exhumed Films' 25-hour horror-thon.

  4. Most galleries and museums are open on public holidays and sundays. They just open later. I think usually something like 2 – 5 pm. Be aware, that due to a recent accident, the Natural History Museum is closed indefinitely.

Look at http://www.visitdublin.ie for information on what to do and see.

    Enjoy your trip

It's a great time to introduce them to a new sport. If you have any experience, try teaching them too, or if not send them to a club. If you want to do something with them, there are plenty of things to do in London, try doing any sightseeing they haven't done, or just taking them to places like Covent Garden or the South Bank where there is often lots of really good street entertaining which doesn't cost anything.

YES, the exhibition is well worth a visit and you will be a "cultural experience wiser"!

Actually I envy you, it´s not every day a person has a chance to see Picasso´s paintings!

Yes, but plan on a semi short trip.

I would say to go see the Rockettes at Radio City. I think that the wax museum is way overpriced and just not that interesting. From Radio City, one block east is the iconic tree. Another block is Sak's Fifth Avenue, famous for it's window dressing, as is Lord & Taylor, about a fifteen minute walk downtown from there. Grand Central will have some interesting shops and exhibitions. And all those things after the Rockettes are free. There is also usually a large model train set-up in the Citicorp Building (also free) at 53rd and Lex, three blocks east of Fifth Ave.

I was there last year from the 27th till January 6. Pretty much everything was open. There will be crowds, so expect to stand in long lines to get into museums or other attractions. Even to get into a smaller museum like the Rodin, the line was nearly 45 minutes long!
