Post-holiday Sales Help Shoppers

Post-holiday sales are working to shoppers’ advantage, said retailers. For those who worry that purchasing would certainly drill a hole in their pocket, watchers say this is the time to spend without hurting the budget.

With most shopper’s wallets and purses hemorrhaging at this time of year due to last-minute holiday shopping, a vehicle purchase isn’t always on their buy list. But Dec. 26 through 31 can actually be an opportune time to buy, say consumer advocates and, unsurprisingly, auto dealers, who point to the softening of the midlevel auto market in the last quarter as a reason to visit auto lots before Dec. 31, reported New York Daily News.

“Is it a good time to buy? Yes, if dealers have the car that you want,” said Brian Moody, the consumer advice editor at Edmunds.com. “On the other hand, not everyone wants to have a 2007 car as soon as it gets to be 2008, even though it’s a brand new car with no miles on it.”

“The good news is that you can end up getting a better deal “if you don’t mind getting a car that’s going to be technically a year old in five days,” Moody added.

Jay Rosenthal, the general sales manager at Rallye Acura on Long Island, said that people are not always aware of the urgency that can occur late in the year in showrooms. “You have manufacturers as well as dealers who are looking to hit their objectives,” Rosenthal noted, “and a dealer will want to hit those numbers before the end of the year. So that’s to the consumer’s advantage.”

The maker of Acura clutch as well as other automakers devised the holiday sales in order to pull more shoppers and sales, in due course.

Bruce Bendell, president of Major World in Long Island City and in the Bronx, agrees. “What happens is, because of the holiday times, most manufacturers take their incentive budgets and cut them after the first week or two of December. People are just spending money like crazy on gifts for family, and vehicles aren’t always high on the list. People try to get through the holidays and they say, ‘Let’s do it after it’s all over.’ But each manufacturer has sales goals, and they have to meet them before the end of the year. The manufacturers’ competing against each other makes a good situation for the consumer,” he shared.

“If you run a business and need a new vehicle,” Bendell added, “You may want to make your purchase this year because it may work for the year-end tax situation. As an example, if you’re going to declare part of the vehicle and you’re paying sales tax that might be a deductible. Make sure you check with your accountant, though.”

Anthony Schifano, general sales manager at Koeppel Nissan in Queens, stressed that while ads for luxury cars dominate television, less expensive models are hot this time of year, too. “In particular, Nissan, Mazda and Volkswagen are offering tremendous specials right now,” he concluded. “It’s all about meeting sales goals for the year.”

Help answer the question about holiday auto

Restaurant by holiday inn express downtown Detroit?
In 2006 we went to the auto show and stayed at Holiday Inn Express downtown Detroit. We walked out of the hotel went left and there was a bar/restaurant that had AMAZING food! We had calamari that was the best I've ever had by far. Everything from their burgers to their main entree's were mind blowing with taste. We sat in a both and behind us we could see in the kitchen. Any help would be great. Planning a trip from Ohio just to go back to that place!

Don't mess around and pickup the rental at DIA and be done.

Your U.S. insurance is just as valid in Canada as it is there. Same for Canadians driving in the States. By the way, Allstate operates in Canada as well.

Not everyone celebrates Easter and is of Christian faith. New York is one of the most diverse places in the world. Some people celebrate but will also attend the show. No where in the bible says that you should not attend the Autoshow because of Easter. There are no restrictions on what you can do on Easter Sunday as long as it is not sinful and I do believe attending the Autoshow is not a sinful act.

    Second
The Autoshow is an international tour. It begins in Detroit and moves from city to city. As well, Jacob Javitz has traditionally been scheduled for other events…. The motorcycle show is the first two week of January. There are other shows like the home show, the consumer electronics show that are in there as well.

Sales are not down on Easter. I'm sure if it was nonexistent they would have changed it. Don't you? NY Autoshow is one of the best attended autoshows in North America. Most people can only go to the show on Saturday or Sunday since they work M to F….

  4. few things to consider…

    1. how long are you going to be gone? if it's a week or less, just don't feed them. this sounds harsh but fish are not like humans. they can go a lot longer without food without any ill effects. just imagine in the wild… fish do not have someone feeding them everyday. this is why fish will eat until they explode. they are "programmed" to eat as much as they can because they don't know when the next meal is coming. feed them the normal amount of food right before you go and right when you come home.

    2. if you're going to be gone over a week you might want a block feeder, but a better option would be to have someone come over and feed them. if that is not an option make sure the feeder you go is NOT CHALKY… the chalky kind have all kinds of stuff in them that will gunk up your tank and you quite possibly come home to dead fish :(

instead… find the GEL vacation feeders. these have a lot less nasty things in them, pretty much just gel and food.

First you need to do the burglary mission with 'Rider'. After the mission all you need to do is find a van, hop in and wait till midnight until a text box Tell's you that you can do the burglary mission.

I recommend finding a van between a group of large buildings across the street from you first girlfriend.
If you don't have one the its across the street between the first gym and the grove street bridge.

  7. If you "need to know" then get a Beckett Guide and look it up like every other person over the age of 6.

What is it with you idiots who come in here asking these questions? You NEVER get a real answer in here anyway. You get morons making guesses so you end up wasting your time, their time and our time for reading it. Get a Beckett and quit wasting everyone's time.
